About this artwork
Work dedicated to all the doctors of the world. May this noble profession always be illuminated by the greatest values of the heart and by the harmony between science and conscience. Because both science and consciousness are qualities and activities of the human being, which should never be in contradiction with each other. And when there is a contradiction we must immediately look for the causes because the separation between science and conscience… could put our very survival at stake.
« The inspiration is the perception of a moment when we can do something. »
Marco Stocco, an Italian artist born in 1970, lives between Italy and Brazil. Self-taught and drawn to figurative art, he began his first paintings, often depicting enigmatic female forms and faces. Along his artistic journey, Marco moved to Brazil, where he currently resides. Initially, the pace and vibrant cultural diversity of Brazil shook him and almost disoriented him emotionally, but then, through observation, he perceived and grasped new, precious creative stimuli. Marco treasures all these stimulating inner experiences, which later lead him to express new sensations in his paintings. In 2009, he created "Orpheus," his "imaginary interior photojournalist," an enigmatic and contemplative character that represents himself, channeling these sensations into which he then materially expresses them on canvas.
