For Marie, writing is intimate, spontaneous, continuous, and rooted in time. Following this path, she began writing shapes in India ink on paper, with the sole intention of painting mindfully with a writing motion. In this series, she reworks these shapes into collages before using them as the basis for her canvases. Framed under glass in oak-finish aluminum. Image size: 13 x 13 cm. Framed size: 31 x 25 cm.
« My work is a perpetual quest for the perfect balance between shapes, colors and textures. »
Marie Amédro is a French-based artist whose paintings have been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Her work explores the dialogue between abstract painting and contemporary calligraphy. Using India ink on paper, she develops a spontaneous gestural script, which she then transcribes onto canvas with acrylic paint. The integration of natural materials, such as sand or linen, slows the viewer's gaze and introduces a tactile dimension, creating a tension between movement, surface, and silence. Her works thus offer an experience that is both contemplative and meditative.
