About this artwork
Nature is a mirror of our lives, which is why I hide fragments of images and writings, symbols of my most precious memories, among the brushstrokes that tell the story of the slow rebirth of the riverbanks.
The works in the Rinascita series are born from photographs of hidden places, where nature is in decline, like the riverbanks of my homeland, capturing details that reveal the passage of time, vegetation losing its color and vitality. The artistic… intervention on the photograph, using acrylic paints and mixed techniques, over a film that conceals messages and symbols, transforms this moment of metamorphosis into a vision of rebirth, a return to life that transforms the image into a new, timeless space.
Maurizio Pilò, a painter trained at the Art School and the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna, uses photography, painting, mixed media, enamels, tar, and photographic film. He experiments with layering, inserts, and film interventions, combining acrylics, oil, and fragments of his life. His style blends photography and painting to depict the metamorphosis of nature and humanity through visions rich in matter and symbolism. His works evoke hope and rebirth, transforming decadence into a promise of future and human resilience.
