About this artwork
I conceived this work as a turning point. September 11th was not just a tragedy, it permanently transformed our perception of the world.
Through this work, I question this shift: how could an event of such violence have led to a simplified interpretation of reality, where emotion has sometimes obscured nuance? Too quickly, entire identities have been associated with this tragedy, as if human complexity could be reduced to a single act.
The debris… at the base is not merely remnant; it becomes the material for reconstruction. It symbolizes how we have reshaped our worldview in the wake of this shock. Among them, the American flag appears as a fragment, a powerful sign of the beginning of a reign of fear.
But this fear does not belong to any camp. It circulates, spreads, and resonates throughout the world like a distorted echo of a reality that transcends us.
