About this artwork
This painting captures the delicate beginning of a young dancer’s journey. A small child stands at the edge of her very first ballet class, holding onto shoes that are still untouched. She hesitates for a moment, not yet ready to step into them.
These unused shoes become a symbol of potential. They represent everything she does not yet know she is capable of. The quiet pause before she puts them on is a moment of vulnerability, but also of quiet… courage.
Because when she finally ties the ribbons, something transforms. With each movement she learns, she begins to reveal the light she carries within. She grows, she stretches, she rises. And in that process, she begins to shine, showing the world the beauty, strength, and precious uniqueness that were always there, waiting to be claimed.
This artwork celebrates that tender threshold between fear and bravery, between uncertainty and self-discovery. It is a tribute to the inner glow that appears when we dare to begin.
Petra Gruiters, a student of Fine Arts, brings life to Belgian linen and wooden panels with her finest oils. Utilizing traditional techniques, she crafts masterpieces showcasing handmade dresses, flowing draperies, and delicate florals with a human form underneath. Her work exudes an ethereal exploration of femininity, intertwining the gently fierce with vulnerability, a tale told in tender oil strokes that invite introspection.
