About this artwork
Abstract composition made over two years with a transformation of colors in the original drawing, hence its title Metamorphoses. It is an exploration on the initial theme of the collage of torn papers. The inspiration is linked to the theme of travel in its metaphysical aspiration with the notion of territories and change of scenery. It is also a jubilant exploration of colors and spaces in a limited and imaginary framework. Suresnes workshop, signed… and certified.
This work will soon be visible at the next Salon d'Automne in Paris at the end of October 2024.
« It is the reflection not of a visual reality but of an invention that translates a deep feeling for nature that resonates with what is most intimate within me. »
Pierre Calogero is an artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. He cites geometry, colors, and the search for harmony as being the main themes of his artistic practice. Calogero's bold abstractions are created with natural pigments mixed with acrylic binders and water. He also employs brushes and squeegees, working the surface of his canvases with crumpled paper because, for him, the relationships of density, materiality, brightness, or mattness between colored surfaces are essential.
