This composition is part of a series inspired by Colombia; Candelaria is a famous neighborhood in Bogota.
The constraint of this series is to use the three colors of this country's flag, respecting the surfaces rather than the design. From these warm and highly inspiring colors, a harmony and a unique language must be found for each painting. Pierre Calogero is an artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. He cites geometry, colors, and the search for harmony as being the main themes of his artistic practice. Calogero's bold abstractions are created with natural pigments mixed with acrylic binders and water. He also employs brushes and squeegees, working the surface of his canvases with crumpled paper because, for him, the relationships of density, materiality, brightness, or mattness between colored surfaces are essential.
