About this artwork
In this piece, I blended impressionism with abstract forms to reveal the complexities within us. Using acrylics, I captured a fleeting moment where light and shadow wrestle—reflecting inner turmoil and hope. This painting invites your space to breathe with lasting depth and energy, stirring contemplation and emotional connection. Which pretty much describes us perfectly when you are at the ocean and you have revelations which happens to me all the… time and you see this flickers of color and it’s really surprising specially at night because like it just happens and you’re like mesmerized in the ocean is powerful and it’s undescribable and those were the feelings that came out in this painting from The Ocean Rock series. For some reason this is one of my favorites it’s like the dark and the light the contrast and the feeling of the moon!
Rebecca Both is a painter with a strong academic background, honed since high school and refined at the American Art Academy. Her intuitive process combines the spontaneous movement of pigment with tools like trowels and oversized palette knives, while she also masters painstakingly realistic commissions. She explores natural themes, particularly the ocean, creating art that evokes reflection, joy, and revelation—inviting viewers to see and feel the world in ways they hadn’t considered before.
