About this artwork
This etching uses 3 copper plates, hence, 3 colors.
My intention in this work was to evoke and express graphically how, even great human created environments, are subject to overwhelming natural forces; in this case, the destruction of Pompeii in 79 AD by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
Effectively, the work is an assemblage if imagery from Pompeii merged in to a coherent composition.
