About this artwork
In the collage "There Was a Time" I combine travel experiences with flashbacks to the 1960s. Photo fragments and gelli prints overlap to create a panorama in which past and present merge.
Structurally, the collage oscillates between urban scenes, figurative elements and abstract surfaces. With the contrast between cold, bluish tones and warm, earthy yellow tones, I create a field of tension between memory and evolution. The composition appears… like a visual memory - fragmentary, lively and at the same time ephemeral.
With There Was a Time I invite the viewer to develop their own associations and to reflect on the connection between individual experience and collective history

In multi-layered compositions, Roswitha Müller combines places, landscapes and people to create stories full of emotions and surprises. Her often tactile works oscillate between the familiar and the unknown.
