About this artwork
when crossing the snowy Alps there was a fire, the trees were on flames, the burning trees seemed to me like living torches, they were transferred from the physical realm to pure energy. this transformation from wood to smoke made me ponder about the destiny of human life, what is the meaning of death and the process of leaving the physical body, then i thought about the power of trees and forests to regenerate, i promised myself to come again to…

I tried to explore the visceral texture of abstraction and surrealism. My focus was on capturing the raw, primitive forces of nature and the subtle decay and renewal processes inherent in life. The austere color palette—earth tones pierced by stark whites and blacks—evokes a sense of ancient remnants unearthed, each stroke and splatter a testament to the passage of time. This artwork is designed to provoke reflection and stir the soul, infusing any space with a powerful, contemplative presence.

My practice is rooted in material investigation, where the artwork becomes a site of layered processes unfolding over time.
At the core of my work is industrial cold tar— carrying geological memory. Tar absorbs light, slows movement, and resists clarity, introducing friction into the visual field. When combined with oil, gesso, and pigment, it generates a continuous negotiation between opacity and luminosity, between what is buried and what is revealed.
These dense, absorptive surfaces function as active fields—capable of retaining, resisting, and transforming the materials brought into contact with them. Each work evolves through sequences of action and reaction, of revealing and concealing. The surface becomes an archive of gestures, material events, and temporal shifts.
Central to my work is the notion of layering as a structural condition. Each painting develops through successive strata of material interactions: absorption, oxidation, sedimentation, and reactivation.
