About this artwork
The cardboard packaging of a lamp served as the model for the painting "Aeki" from my exhibition "Liniyaria". I found the packaging almost more beautiful than the lamp itself and decided to keep it instead of recycling it. Several drawings were created from the packaging, which I then combined and finally transferred to the canvas in a playful manner, transforming these lines into something abstract. As in many of my paintings, this work explores… the tension between figuration and abstraction, as well as the interplay of form and color.
In this work, I have captured the tension between structure and freedom using geometric, semi-abstract forms. The delicate acrylic lines in vibrant colors dance against the tranquil background, creating a dynamic balance. It is intended to reflect the energy and flow of life, which is constantly renewed in every moment.
Tobias Gossow, born and living in Vienna, uses acrylic paints and innovative techniques, particularly his self-developed "chop-stick" technique, which uses Chinese chopsticks to create relief-like lines on canvas. In his work, he combines a representational, realistic style with a search for abstract quality; his themes range from urban architecture to nature and their intersections. His works exude a magical, enchanting atmosphere and convey a deep fascination with the beauty and complexity of the world.
