About this artwork
Samurai is a work that combines strength and silence in a striking visual balance. The figure, essential and devoid of physical features, becomes a universal symbol of discipline, concentration, and inner control. The featureless face is not an absence, but a deliberate choice: it eliminates identity to enhance the concept.
The composition is frontal, almost iconic. The warrior occupies the space with a solid, stable presence, while the katana,… firmly held, becomes the central axis of the entire visual structure. The gesture is restrained, measured, charged with silent tension.
Color is the true protagonist. The contrasts between bright red, vibrant yellow, and intense blue create an immediate and dynamic impact. The background, divided into sharply defined areas, amplifies the figure's strength, while the black outlines boldly define the forms, lending the work a graphic and contemporary feel.
My name is Vincenzo Raimondo, I live and work in Palermo, a city of contradictions that profoundly influence my vision. I'm a self-taught artist, and my painting doesn't follow a fixed style: it evolves over time, along with my experiences and personal maturity. My work stems from observing everyday life and listening to emotions, which is why I tackle diverse themes and continually experiment with new languages, allowing each piece to find its own form.
My art is instinctive, essential, and imperfect, rooted in the complexity of humanity and nature. I don't seek perfection, because it doesn't belong to reality. Imperfections become part of the work: rough marks, dirty or scratched surfaces are traces of the creative process and my identity. I love what is authentic and lived-in. For me, art isn't decoration, but presence, accessible and sincere, capable of connecting with the viewer.
