Anne JOLLY

Trained as an illustrator, from the Rouen School of Fine Arts to the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Déco in Paris, from which she graduated, drawing is the fundamental driving force behind Anne Jolly's work, using the reality around her as her basis. Initially working as an illustrator for Parisian publishing houses, she left this field to broaden her horizons and free up her creative exploration.
With her sensitive and illustrative background, and a strong need for eclecticism, she strives to reconcile academic practice with contemporary art, regularly changing techniques, from the archaism of raw charcoal to the refinement of oil painting. She draws from life or live models, seeing beauty where fashion and the spirit of the times, tainted by censorship, no longer see it. While attached to academic figurative art, she nevertheless enjoys manipulating it, experimenting with repainting or mixing pictorial genres.
