Claudio Boczon - painter, photographer
"Experimentation without fear of error, art as a result of how matter used becomes expression and stimulates the senses"

Claudio Boczon is a Brazilian painter. He studied painting at the Atelier of Painting at the Museum Alfredo Andersen and is currently living and working in Brazil. His experimental paintings play on ideas of Abstraction and collage.

Collage and Regeneration

Boczon draws much of his inspiration from 20th century movements such as Tachisme or Arte Povera, repurposing found objects and materials or using them as the origin for his pieces. At times he uses his own older works, reconstructing and making new collages from them. Boczon is recycling both the physical item and also the concepts behind these objects or pieces.

Unveiling Beauty in the Mundane

Boczon’s style is one of contrasts and physicality. In his paintings, he seeks to both conceal and reveal in equal measures. He seeks out the hidden beauty in the everyday, bringing it to the surface for his viewer to question and appreciate that which they have become blind to. This process of layering is intended to display the corporeality of the canvas, showing each error and new direction taken, so as to remind us of the painting process.

Brazillian Biennials

Boczon has presented his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions. In 2016 he exhibited at The Biennial of Contemporary Art of SESC/DF in Brazil and has had numerous solo exhibitions at the Museum Alfredo Andersen in his hometown Curitiba.
