About this artwork
This artwork is from the beginning of my pictorial research, when I tested materials, supports and also some aesthetic issues. Many results of this beginning still remain in my production today, mainly the overlapping layers of paints, which are eventually scraped to reveal the beginning of the process, as in this work to which I named Fossil, because it has a fossilized plant aspect (easily found in rocks of some Brazilian regions).
Oil pastel… and acrylic on canvas.
Stretched and painted on the borders, ready to hang.

« Experimentation without fear of error, art as a result of how matter used becomes expression and stimulates the senses »
Claudio Boczon is an experienced Brazilian painter whose works have featured in prizes, publications and exhibitions across the country. He composes experimental paintings that play on aspects of abstraction and collage, drawing much inspiration from 20th century movements such as Tachisme and Arte Povera. He re-purposes found objects, recycling both physical items and the concepts they carry, to achieve an artistic style that showcases strong physicality, intriguing layering and conceptual depth.
