UK based artist Hazel Mountford works convey her anatomical knowledge, intense passion and love of fauna. Living and working in an urban environment her artworks explore the complicated dynamics between humans and the natural world. Our worlds are entwined, an evolving jigsaw of competition and harmony.
Her artworks are like a stage from which the animals peer out, fixing the viewer with an intense gaze and establishing a strong connection. Vividly detailed skin, fur and feathers are expertly sculptured to lifelike effect. Working on wood Hazel's pieces convey the texture and movement of her quarry.
Hazel's prize winning artworks have been exhibited internationally and widely published.
