There are 24 different species of bumblebee in the UK (25 if you include the reintroduced short-haired bumblebee)
In ‘One Bee Left’ I celebrate the amazing diversity of bumblebees whilst acknowledging the threat they currently live under.
At first glance this cloud of bees may all look the same but look closely and you will see that each little panel shows an individual from the different bumblebee species.
Painted life-size on traditional gesso,… each bee flies towards the left of the panel. As individual panels are removed their numbers diminish until, as in real life, there may be only be ‘one bee left’
