Ludovic Simon's work, by virtue of remaining relatively unknown, is a perfect success.
He keeps his distance from visible effects, codes, and trends, adopting an apparent mocking simplicity. The images are clear, the situations immediately recognizable, everything seems accessible, too simple, and without notable artistic qualities.
Yet, behind this mockery lies a technical mastery and artistic sensibility perceptible to attentive and discerning eyes. Couples, families, intimate scenes: the bodies are there, in their place, but as if slightly out of sync with themselves. Happiness is suggested without ever being fully grasped. Desire resembles a habit. Tenderness, a learned behavior.
Her works demand neither immediate agreement nor emotion. They function differently. They pose this question: What if you missed something?
