« Painting is good for your soul. When you make a painting, you learn about how things are constructed. This learning helps you to interpret life. »
Rick Matear wanted to become an artist as soon as he found out that he could make an imaginary world come alive through paint. The Australian painter's works play with color and the picture plane. Matear explores the themes of humor, beauty, surrealism, as well as environmental issues and concepts that are thought-provoking. He creates using oils, acrylics, and pencils on canvas, paper, or linen.
