About this artwork
Each Wednesday I have the privilege of tutoring a inspired group of artists. The group has been going for 30 years. They all have in common the love of art.
The meetings stopped a month ago due to isolation restrictions. Luckily we have Zoom meetings and discuss our recent work. The first painting is of one of those Zoom meetings.
A Emerald Hill Art Group exhibition where Covid 19 inspired images and other subjects will be displayed at a soon to… be decided venue in November.
After the class has shown their painting or drawing a subject is chosen to paint the following week. Subjects so far have been.
What we miss being in isolation.
Reinterpreting a masterpiece.
The view from our window.
This painting if sold needs to be exhibed in November

« Painting is good for your soul. When you make a painting, you learn about how things are constructed. This learning helps you to interpret life. »
Rick Matear wanted to become an artist as soon as he found out that he could make an imaginary world come alive through paint. The Australian painter's works play with color and the picture plane. Matear explores the themes of humor, beauty, surrealism, as well as environmental issues and concepts that are thought-provoking. He creates using oils, acrylics, and pencils on canvas, paper, or linen.
