Shawn Kolodny is a prolific contemporary sculptor whose work explores the possibilities of geometric forms and chromatic colors. Best known for his repeated use of spheres and reflective surfaces, Kolodny creates seductive sculptures with industrial materials and pristine finishes that question our perceptions of balance, fragility, and permanence. His work reveals the tension between what appears solid and what is truly stable.

Born and raised in New York, Kolodny draws on a background in hospitality and industrial design to infuse his sculptural practice with a sharp awareness of consumer culture. Though deeply formal, Kolodny’s work is also intensely personal. His process is intuitive and performative, informed by a lifelong negotiation with risk, repetition, discipline, and control.
