« I hope to go beyond realism to a new expression of images that emphasize light, color, form, and texture. »
Shevy Levy is an artist based in Canada whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. Inspired by a variety of American abstract expressionist artistic movements from the twentieth century, especially abstract expressionism, her most recent works are minimalist in nature. For Levy, geometric shapes convey an illusion of spatial depth. Her striking abstractions are created in a gestural manner with oils and oil pastels on canvas.
