« For me, art has to be exciting and give the viewer space for their own interpretations. Interpreting my pictures is not my job but that of those who look at them. »
My work moves between abstract expressionism and experimental materials research. It emerges slowly – through layering, reworking, removal, and reduction. Acrylic paint, marble dust, lime, paper, charcoal, gold leaf, and found materials meet and are constantly transformed.
I'm interested in what happens when an image isn't predetermined from the outset. Layers are built up, blurred, removed, and reworked. Traces of earlier decisions remain visible, sometimes only as faint remnants beneath the surface.
This is how works are created that oscillate between tranquility and tension, density and openness. I don't try to depict an idea or prescribe anything. The image develops in the process – until the point is reached where nothing more should be added or taken away.
