About this artwork
It is a vibrant revelation of Ángel Alcalde's inner universe, where night ceases to be silence and becomes an explosion of life, energy, and mystery. The tree, powerful and almost mythical, rises like a cosmic axis that seems to embrace the incandescent moon, fusing earth and sky in a single heartbeat. The dense, visceral, and impasto brushstrokes create an electrifying atmosphere, in which the colors—deep blues, fiery reds, and almost solar yellows—converse… with overflowing emotional intensity. Alcalde does not paint a landscape: he invokes it, feels it, transforms it into a sensory experience. This work, with its overwhelming expressive force, transcends the visual to delve into the symbolic, becoming a magnetic piece capable of elevating any collection to realms of genuine artistic emotion.
Ángel Alcalde's artistic career began in Madrid in the late 1970s, in the workshops of hand-painted film posters, where he shared a creative space with Antonio López, a decisive experience in shaping his artistic vision. Later, his interests expanded to include journalism, and in the 1990s, he joined the University of Castilla-La Mancha as Chief of Staff to the Rector, contributing to its institutional development. In 2010, he definitively returned to painting with a mature style, where Impressionism and Expressionism converge through a bold use of color, light, and texture.
