About this artwork
A ballerina quietly practices before her performance in a backstreet.
Her graceful form recalls the elegance of a swan, captured in a moment of deep concentration.
Her figure appears as a dark silhouette, emphasizing her focus and inner stillness. In contrast, the luminous white dress, gold shoes, and delicate accessories stand out, creating a striking balance between shadow and light.
The scene takes place after the rain. To evoke the reflections… of the wet pavement, I used interference ink, allowing subtle shifts of light to appear across the surface. The same material is also applied to the satin tutu, enhancing its soft shimmer and delicate texture.
Through these reflective elements, the painting captures both the quiet intensity of practice and the fleeting beauty of the moment.
