About this artwork
The materials that were used are weathered pieces of wood and carved cherry. This artwork is a narrative of our human connection to nature and specifically the Driftless area of Southern Wisconsin. Elemental motifs of water and the topography illustrate the interconnectedness of this ecosystem. Driftless Convergence is a story of how we see patterns in the world all around us and what that means to our lives and how we connect to the environment.

Aaron Laux is a prize-winning American painter and sculptor who believes that art is a universal human expression that is essential in order to thrive. Through the connection to the natural world, he seeks to represent beauty amidst chaos with a sense of underlining hope. Laux primarily works with wood that he salvages from fallen trees, often combining other materials such as glass, stone and other objects. Both functional and ornamental, his pieces have a natural and organic aesthetic.
