About this artwork
The work deals with a delicate moment in life: the one in which we must accept an inevitable passage that hurts even more when it is not ours.
First you're there, living, laughing, and dreaming. Suddenly, however, you find yourself struggling, and then a click, darkness. A clock has stopped. They say that's how life works. That as one cycle ends, another begins. Yet how many actually see it unfold? Paradoxically, you're less alone than before, but… you feel more and more alone. You're never ready for that moment. You're in church, surrounded by those who suffer and those who suffer for those who suffer. You lean on that cold wood covered in blinding white cloth. With your left hand, you squeeze it, searching for a hold; with your right, you seek contact. You know you have to accept everything, that there's no remedy, that that thread has broken, and after all, that's okay. You lean forward, as if searching for an answer. But all you see is darkness. And you feel alone.
Adriano Scarano is a self-taught painter, illustrator, and digital artist born in 1998 in Mottola (Taranto, Italy). He has been in love with art since he was young. He paints instinctively on treated cotton canvas, preferring oil paints (although he also works with acrylics) and adopting a spontaneous approach to pencil drawing, where faces are deliberately concealed to emphasize posture. His works delve into introspection, conveying a profound empathy for loneliness, sadness, and weariness, inviting viewers to recognize themselves and feel understood, never alone. Many of his works have been exhibited virtually and physically throughout Italy (Martina Franca, Monopoli, Florence). His work "Guy 451" was also used as the cover of the book "Il fermo proposito" by Cosimo Scarano, published by Algra Editore.
