About this artwork
The “Pink Lady” of racing, Donna Mae Mims won the SCCA Championship (Sports Car Club of America) in 1963 with her trademark pink helmet, racing suit and “think pink” printed on her 1959 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite. The first woman to win a SCCA championship, Donna Mae Mims had a bubbly, joyful charm that was contagious. Behind the wheel, however, all bubbles subsided and she was a racer, every bit as full of grit and determination as any man on the… course. The relevance of being a man or woman dissipated into the pure drive of winning the race. Donna Mae’s racing career spanned 12 years, but her love of cars never died. Ultimately, she would be buried in her pink 1979 Chevrolet Corvette.
The title of this piece refers to a simple and pure joy of driving, reclaiming the term back to its original meaning, free of any sexual connotation.
« "I want my art to set off an avalanche of freedom, thereby giving others permission to shine." »
Adrienne Egger’s bold, narrative-driven paintings explore transformation—where strength meets vulnerability, control meets surrender. Blending surrealism, impressionism, and expressionism, she crafts immersive storyscapes of emotion, memory, and possibility. Born in the Rocky Mountains and now in the Austrian Alps, her unconventional upbringing fuels a fascination with life’s contradictions. Her work holds space for reflection and affirms the full spectrum of being, reclaiming complexity as quiet strength. With collectors from Hong Kong to New York and features in luxury publications and auction houses, Adrienne also founded UNARTIG – Avantgarde Art Salon, curating immersive interdisciplinary experiences that foster art, culture, and community. Through Graceland, her nonprofit, she supports transformation at life’s pivotal moments. Her practice spans painting, design, fashion, and coaching, each a thread in her mission to turn life’s raw materials into beauty and insight.
