Ahmed Kamel is a multi-disciplinary visual artist who holds an M.A. in photography and moving images from the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig (2014) and B.A. in fine arts from Helwan University, Cairo (2003). He lives and works in Berlin and Cairo.

His work examines inherited preconceived notions within societal and religious spheres, exploring their intersections across the two cultures he inhabits.
He investigates how selective approaches to history and narrative shape the construction of self-image and its subsequent cultural expression.
Working through a process of observation and deconstruction, he employs a variety of media, including photography, video, drawing, and objects.

His work has been shown internationally, e.g., at Townhouse Gallery in Cairo, the Louisiana Museum in Humlebæk, Brandts Museum in Odense, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, and Folkwang Museum in Essen. He has been an artist-in-residence in Berlin, Amsterdam, Bern, Düsseldorf, and Istanbul.
