About this artwork
Andrei Barteniev is one of the stylists of the Russian avant-garde. He draws and makes clothing objects and organizes performances and exhibitions. He poses on the roof of the "house of the old Bolsheviks", building of sinister memory. Under Stalin, most of the tenants, members of the Central Committee, were arrested, deported, executed. In the background, the Saint-Sauveur Cathedral, dynamited during the anti-religious campaign of the 30s and rebuilt…
