Those who lost their home by a certain reason including conflicts or disasters, have to leave their beloved home behind them and must find a new home. Everyone needs a place where they… can feel safe, secure and comfortable. A cocoon in my story can be just such a place for them. In the story, forms of life create a new cocoon. You can get your own cocoon which is a place of contemplation and potential. When you are warmly and comfortably wrapped by the cocoon, you will explore a new world without conflicts nor disasters.

Ai Hashimoto is a Japanese painter and sculptor based in the Netherlands whose works have been widely exhibited there. She describes her diverse works as being based on her personal narratives and rituals. Through her artistic practice, Hashimoto endeavors to create a link between abstract spiritual realities and the real forms of the material world. In addition, her recurring mushroom character, Kinoko, represents new life and a new landscape in the post-apocalyptic world of the "Pink Tsunami" disaster.
