About this artwork
“Pachamama” is inspired by a journey to Mexico, where I celebrated a meaningful moment surrounded by family, nature, and a deep sense of connection. The experience left a lasting impression of warmth, presence, and the richness of life shared with others.
Named after the ancient Quechua concept of Mother Earth, Pachamama symbolizes the source of nourishment, protection, and abundance. This painting is a tribute to the soil, to our roots, and to… the quiet yet powerful force of nature that sustains and heals.
Through layered acrylic and oil pastel, I explore organic forms and earthy tones that evoke growth, grounding, and renewal. The work invites the viewer to reconnect with the natural world and to reflect on the generosity of the earth and our place within it.
Alejandra Abad is a Swiss–Ecuadorian painter whose multicultural background deeply informs her practice. She creates primarily abstract works using intuitive, spontaneous techniques, letting color, movement, and layered compositions translate her emotional states and personal narratives onto canvas. Her style is vibrant and cathartic, embracing improvisation and a dialogue between light and shadow. Through her art, she conveys a resonant sense of longing, transformation, and the journey toward self-acceptance—evoking feelings of connection, wholeness, and the beauty of integrating all facets of one’s identity.
