About this artwork
This work is inspired by a deeply meditative experience in which the boundaries between self and nature dissolved. I imagined becoming water, merging with a cloud, falling as rain into a lush landscape, nourishing the earth and all forms of life within it. From soil to root, from seed to bloom, the journey unfolded as a continuous cycle of transformation and renewal.
Through layered acrylic and oil pastel, I explore fluidity, movement, and interconnectedness.… The composition evolved intuitively, reflecting the sensation of expansion and return, of being both individual and part of a greater whole.
This painting invites the viewer into a contemplative space, evoking a sense of unity with nature and the quiet beauty of life’s cycles. It is an expression of wholeness, presence, and the profound connection between all living things.
Alejandra Abad is a Swiss–Ecuadorian painter whose multicultural background deeply informs her practice. She creates primarily abstract works using intuitive, spontaneous techniques, letting color, movement, and layered compositions translate her emotional states and personal narratives onto canvas. Her style is vibrant and cathartic, embracing improvisation and a dialogue between light and shadow. Through her art, she conveys a resonant sense of longing, transformation, and the journey toward self-acceptance—evoking feelings of connection, wholeness, and the beauty of integrating all facets of one’s identity.
