About this artwork
n this work, I explore the depths of minimalism through the interplay of geometry and color. Using acrylic and charcoal, I built up layers of vibrant red to evoke warmth, intensity, and presence. The monochrome red field becomes a space of quiet tension, where geometric forms— a circle and a square—emerge not by contour but by vibration. They are not drawn; they are sensed.
These shapes pulse subtly from within, hinting at wholeness and unity while… remaining deliberately elusive. The tension between figure and ground turns geometry into resonance and color into a perceptual experience. Rather than asserting meaning, the painting invites a slow, inward gaze—one that reveals the power of simplicity and the fullness it can hold.
« Every paradox can be resolved if the visual resolution is appropriate. »
Alejandra Repetto Escardó is a Río de la Plata–based artist working at the intersection of geometric abstraction and contemplative inquiry. Through painting and photography, she explores the persistence of the sacred in contemporary art, approaching geometry not as a closed system but as a symbolic structure that activates perception.
Her practice engages the constructive legacy of Joaquín Torres García and Zen Buddhist thought, understanding emptiness as an active field of energy rather than absence. Synthesising geometric language, landscape, and archetypal form, her work questions how the gaze is culturally constructed.
Through subtle monochromes, high tonal palettes, and restrained use of gold, she creates perceptual thresholds where silence, structure, and void converge.
