About this artwork
Geometric bodies that are no longer solid
are in the moment of losing their essential values, the moment straight lines become rounded,
when the right angles are dissolved and the inherent spaciousness of the body is displaced. Body deformities
suggest a change resulting from the passage of time and some external action, but this change has not been brought to its logical end, the bodies have not been destroyed or are unrecognizable,
we are still… able to see their starting point, read their lost values. Right at
to this coexistence, in the obviousness of what was lost, I speak of the devastating
the effect of modern mechanisms of adaptation and conformism.

« My works deal with processes that change matter; I recreate and/or document those changes. »
Alem Korkut is an experienced Croatian sculptor who has exhibited his work internationally, including in Germany, Switzerland and Slovenia. His driving philosophy is centered on the idea that everything is perpetually in flux; nothing is fixed or abides by set rules. Korkut predominately creates aluminium reliefs, and hopes for each viewer to join him as he observes, listens and marvels.
