About this artwork

These lyrical works were inspired by the power and energy of the sea and waves. The strong value contrasts and the textural surface create a strong visual impact and brings a sense of the drama and immensity of the ocean into your home.

The 4 paintings together make a strong statement, but they also look good hung as a pair or a threesome. They were painted on multimedia-board while on an artist residency on the west coast of Ireland. Later… they were mounted on white coated MDF and framed with natural pale wood shadow frame for a clean contemporary look. The price listed is per individual painting.

They are painted with a printer's brayer and a spatula building up layers of oil colour mixed with cold wax medium on the surface. Some marble dust was added to give the sense of the sea spray. The wax hardens into protective layer, and adds a beautiful glowing depth to the work. (It is not shiny).

Alethea Eriksson is a South African–Swiss artist based in Baden, Switzerland. She creates nature-inspired abstract paintings that bring calm, spaciousness, and quiet presence into contemporary interiors. Through layered abstraction inspired by nature, light, weather, and inner landscapes, Eriksson creates paintings that invite stillness and reflection.
She describes her works — inner landscapes or “soulscapes”—as a form of visual poetry, expressing the sense of renewal and wellbeing she experiences in nature.
Inspired by masters such as Monet and Cézanne, alongside Abstract Expressionists like Joan Mitchell and Cy Twombly, Eriksson creates compositions that invite the viewer to feel moved, uplifted, and immersed in a contemplative emotional space. "
Alethea Eriksson is a member of the Swiss Association of Women Artists. Her lyrical expressionist paintings have been presented in both solo and group exhibitions across Switzerland, as well as at art fairs in Britain and Germany.
