About this artwork
In "Still Life with Pulse," I approach the figure not just as a subject, but as a sculptural object. The contrast here is tactile: warm, living skin against the cold, weathered wood of the antique chest. My intent was to strip the scene of time, leaving only the geometry of the body and the absolute silence of the room.
Light plays the decisive role, carving out the heavy iron fittings and the texture of the stone floor. The two apples - green and… red - provide the only sharp chromatic break in this earth-toned palette, grounding the composition in physical reality.
On a wall, this work demands a quiet environment. Its verticality and muted ochre tones add architectural weight to a space, making it a strong anchor for a library or a minimalist living area where the atmosphere requires depth rather than decoration.
