About this artwork
Bonnie was one of the first pieces created in the Blooming Series. The intention was the take the abstract ideas that the artist had utilized in previous works and apply them to more representational subject matters. Despite the piece having a more realistic aesthetic the brushstrokes are still very loose and the piece captures a lot of the same energy.

« Through the meditative expression of emotion, I explore the turbulence of anxiety on canvas — melding color field exploration, pattern, gestural brushwork, and acrylic pours to conjure relatable chaos. »
Art has always been an escape from reality for Alex Watson. Vital for his well-being. Through the act of painting, he transforms negative energies into something meaningful and hopes to inspire others to do so as well. Watson primarily works with acrylics and uses a variety of mixed media tools for mark-making. His gestural strokes are organic in form, taking on geometric and angular shapes through many layers.
