About this artwork
The focus for Dianthus was to create a piece with more earthtones. The artist had been incorporating a lot of greens, yellows and more saturated colors in the majority of pieces in this series and wanted to challenge himself to create something that still felt lively while also having a more muted color palette. The result has a grounded and rustic quality with patches of bright colors.

Art has always been an escape from reality for Alex Watson. Vital for his well-being. Through the act of painting, he transforms negative energies into something meaningful and hopes to inspire others to do so as well. Watson primarily works with acrylics and uses a variety of mixed media tools for mark-making. His gestural strokes are organic in form, taking on geometric and angular shapes through many layers.
