About this artwork
the artist is a surfer and resident of Los Angeles. This series is an engagement with the "Finish Fetish" and "Light and Space" artists of the 1970's who used surfboard materials: fiberglass and resins in many of their works and referred often to the distinctly hybrid urban culture of Los Angeles. Clean and minimal, this work looks like a perfect sampling of the Pacific Ocean, excised from the surf zone of Venice Beach.
