About this artwork
The picture shows a mountain formation in the Argentine province of Salta during an approaching thunderstorm. The dark clouds have already reached the higher mountain peaks in the background. The mountainside in the foreground with the deep traces of erosion from earlier rain is still lit by the sun. The mountains stand immovably serene in the face of the force of nature.
Depending on the light conditions, the darkened mountain disappears into… the darkness of the sky or emerges from it. No black was used. The darkness consists of many superimposed translucent layers of purple and blue.
