About this artwork
The phantasmagoric poetry of abandoned places merges with the sprawling growth of lush vegetation. The chair and the teapot –recurring motifs of the artist– stand out from their black & white background for their color and Rococo design. A dreamy and mysterious scene that evokes memories of a Wonderland after Alice.
This artwork was created in the printmaking workshop of the Museum Jose Guadalupe Posada. Using lithography, one of the artist’s favorite… techniques, the full image was drawn directly on the stone using touch, printed by the artist (as she loves being involved in the whole creation process) with black ink on 100% cotton paper, and later the color was the added by hand using watercolor.

Alexia López Sosa is a prize-winning Mexican artist whose works have been widely exhibited nationally, as well as in France and Argentina. Three images are constants in the painter, printmaker, and sculptor's compositions, and include the mountain, the chair, and the wild herb. Sosa explores dreams and nature, and transformation through time. When she works,
she tears her heart onto the canvas, draining her memories, dreams, and landscapes. She describes her art as a coded transcription of who she is.
