In "Fractals" series, I explore how memory and architecture repeat within each other.
This painting begins with a blueprint of Venice in shades of blue – a city drawn from lines, plans and distance. Layer by layer, the frames open, and at the center, the real appears: San Marco Square, warm, golden, alive.
It is a visual metaphor. We rarely see places all at once.
We see them through sketches, through photos, through other people’s stories, until… finally we arrive at the heart of them. The "Framed memory" is about that journey from idea to experience, from drawing to light and it investigates recursion in architecture and perception.
Using the motif of the frame-within-a-frame, I place Piazza San Marco at the center of concentric blue outlines. The outer layers remain schematic, unfinished – a plan, a ghost of the city.
The inner core is fully realized in color and light.
