About this artwork
A faun rendered in darkness — armoured, feathered and marked. One violet eye peers through a painted mask; segmented horns curl around the skull like ancient armour; layered dark feathers cover the crown and back like ancestral plumage. A small wire ring hangs from the temple — the only delicate detail in an otherwise powerful, unyielding presence.
Created entirely from original sketches, this sculptural bust reimagines the faun not as a playful… forest creature but as something far older and more ambiguous — a mythological being that has witnessed too much, survived too long, and carries its entire history in its armour, its markings and its scars.
Every element is hand-built from air-dry clay: the overlapping feather layers, the segmented armour rising from the skull, the painted violet eye marking that functions simultaneously as tattoo, wound and symbol. Mounted on a dark painted wood base that anchors the figure with weight and gravity.
