About this artwork
This mixed media collage on stretched canvas presents a vibrant and layered visual composition that feels both organic and dynamic. The collage uses soft yet lively hues — pinks, peaches, olive greens, mustards, yellows and golds and combines elements such as paper fragments, and painted textures, to create a sense of motion and growth and to create a sense of depth. The translucent layering of colours creates a luminous effect, giving the impression…
of light filtering through leaves or petals. The variegated gold roundels in the centre capture the light and look different at different angles and under different lights. The oval and petal-like forms radiate outward from the centre, suggesting an upward or blooming motion — fitting for the title Noboru, which means 'to rise' or 'to ascend' in Japanese. The artwork comes varnished with ultraviolet-protective varnish and ready to hang with a gold wooden floating frame.
