About this artwork
The drawing was executed over 6 3-hourly sessions, using just a 2B graphite pencil. A series of objects (that changed every week) were made available , linked together with a common theme. It was intended that each separate drawing should link with those from previous sessions. The theme for this drawing was built around theatrical objects.

« My artwork stems from an emotional response to a place: London (where I was born) always fascinates, and cities generally. A link to the feeling of being an observer, and maybe something of an outsider. »
As an oil painter, Alison Chambers’ work is figurative but not literal, as she aims to capture the essence of what interests her rather than describing it literally.
