Once, the proverb “My house is on the edge — I face the enemy first” embodied dignity and responsibility — the root of civic consciousness.
Under Soviet rule, its meaning was inverted — turned into a symbol of fear, silence, and submission.
The work stands as a monument to language that survived destruction — a reminder that culture cannot be erased; it grows… even through silence.
