This painting deals with addiction – not as a moral issue, but as an inner state.
The central figure appears trapped, surrounded by forces that simultaneously nourish and destroy. He is neither clearly perpetrator nor victim, but rather part of a self-reinforcing cycle.
The environment is dense, almost oppressive. Shapes, colors, and figures seem to merge into one another. Movement arises not from freedom, but from constraint.… Repetition replaces development.
This work was created in 2021 and is one of my early pieces in which I painted inner states directly and unfiltered. It wasn't about showing solutions, but rather presence – enduring a state that cannot be explained, but only experienced.
