About this artwork
This is the third of my "Atoll" series of artworks which are all inspired by the shapes and colours of different corals and their cells.
The piece is raised up from the backing on foam board plinths so that shadows can be created with the light shining through.

Amanda Deadman, a painter and sculptor, intricately blends polymer clay, watercolour, and mixed media rooted in a rich academic background in art and design. She applies a variety of technique-intensive approaches, molding and firing clay, modeling paper mâché, and mixing media, yielding complex works that demonstrate her extraordinary patience and sense of relaxation. Deadman's art intoxicates, celebrating forms and colors of the natural world in beautifully perplexing ways that engage one's sense of curiosity and intrigue.
